The following is a list of programs available for 2nd grade through adult.  Please call our office to speak to our staff about any of these programs and to get information on arranging a trip.

FIRE BUILDING: March - November / Outdoors

This is one of our most popular programs for scouts and small groups.  Students learn about fire safety, respect for the forest, and low impact camping.  We demonstrate how to build a safe campfire, extinguish it, and clean up afterwards.  Students will then get an opportunity to practice it themselves.

BAT HOUSE CONSTRUCTION:  January and February only / Indoors

In this workshop, each student will learn about the life history of this fascinating and often misunderstood flying mammal. Then they will construct a bat house to take home.

SCREECH OWL HOUSE CONSTRUCTION:  January and February only / Indoors

Each student will learn about the life history of our smallest and most common owl, the screech owl.  They will then construct their own owl house to take home.

BASIC KNOT TYING:  Year Round / Indoors or Outdoors

In this program, students will learn basic knot tying skills.  They will have the opportunity to learn 5-6 different types of knots and their uses.  Students will learn how to put up a simple tarp tent, using the knots they have practiced.  This program meets some of the requirement for the Webelos Outdoorsman Badge.

WEATHER:  Year Round / Indoors or Outdoors

This program will introduce students to weather.  Students will learn what weather is and how it occurs.  We'll learn about clouds, how thunder booms, and how to get rain or snow.  Students will learn ho to read a thermometer and barometer and assemble a rain gauge to take home.

*** Be sure to check out the following programs that are also available.  Descriptions can be found on the Nursery and 1st grade pages.
