4th, Saturday / 8:00 a.m. - BREAKFAST WITH THE BIRDS WALK Fall migration
is in full swing. We’ll search
for species that are just passing through in addition to observing our full-time
resident species. This is a
moderate to slow-paced walk. Binoculars
are necessary, and a field guide is helpful.
Refreshments will be available shortly before and after the walk in the
museum. Space is limited so call us
to reserve a place. Ages: 7 to adult Register by Noon on October 3rd.
5th, Sunday / 11:00 a.m. - HAWK WATCHING Join
us for an opportunity to see large raptors and vultures migrating across the
horizon. Please
meet at the kiosk in our parking lot for the short walk over to the Hawk Watch
at Butler Sanctuary.
Bring binoculars, water, and a snack.
Have a jacket on hand as it is usually quite breezy and chilly at the
Hawk Watch. Program
will be cancelled if it is raining. Ages: All ages are welcome 11th, Saturday / 10:00 a.m. - BIRD BANDING
Show up for this unique
opportunity to see live birds up close.
This program will cover topics like migration, feeding habits, habitat
preference, and the importance of bird banding for bird conservation.
This program will take place in the amphitheater behind the museum but
will be cancelled in the event of rain.
Ages: All ages welcome 12th, Sunday / 1:00 p.m. - CHILDREN'S NATURE HIKE
All ages are welcome on this hike
designed especially for kids.
Children will visit four different habitats and look for signs of animal
life. We
will look for tracks, buck rubs, and bird nests.
We’ll search for natural treasures such as deer bones and owl pellets. Ages: All ages
welcome
19th, Sunday / 11:30 a.m. - LOST POND HIKE Enjoy
the fall foliage and scenery during a 1 mile walk to Lost Pond.
Bring a lunch to eat when we reach our destination.
After our lunch, we’ll make our way back to the museum.
Consider bringing binoculars and/or a camera as there will be ample time
for photos and wildlife observation. Ages:
6 to Adult
24th, Friday / 7:30 p.m. - HALLOWEEN NIGHT HIKE Come
join us for an evening of fun and adventure.
There will be two short hikes for ages 7 and under and ages 8 - 12, which
will lead us through the spooky forest of Westmoreland.
We will be discovering tricks and treats along the way left by trolls of
the forest. Following
our walk, join us for cider, games and a costume contest.

26th, Sunday / 3:00 p.m. - HAWKWATCHING Come join us as we walk to the Hawk Watch and see if we can spot migrating raptors. We will meet at the museum and walk to The Hawk Watch at Butler Sanctuary. Bring your binoculars, a drink and a snack.
