Boy Scout programs are offered throughout the year. Topics, times and scheduling information can be found below. Programs are adjusted to fit your scout group’s age and rank, and emphasis can be placed on topics covered in the Boy Scout Handbook, allowing an unique educational experience.

Scout Days at Westmoreland! 
Cub Scout Days

Saturday 12/16/17 10:30 am-12:00 pm- Cooking program

Healthy outdoor cooking techniques used in activities such as camping and backpacking. Demonstration will be held in actual camp setting. Meal preparation, food management, clean up, and nutrition will be the focus of the demonstrations and classes.

Sunday 4/8/18 10:30 am-12:00 pm – Nature Hike

Come out and hike through the spring woods at Westmoreland. We will learn about the plants and animals that live in this habitat.

Saturday 8/11/18 10:30 am-12:00 pm – Map and Compass Skills

Learning navigation using the basic tools rather than GPS. Students will learn about the Earth’s magnetic field as well as the basics of operating a compass and reading a map. Compasses provided for the program will allow the students to experience firsthand the use of the magnetic field to help establish a direction.

Boy Scout Days

Saturday 2/10/18 10:30 am-12:00 pm – First Aid Skills

We will be working on some basic first aid skills. What to do to respond to emergency situations like bleeding, sprains, and broken bones will be covered. We will also go over treatment for natural hazards such as weather related illness, snake bites, and other nature related first aid.

Saturday 6/16/18 10:00 am-2:00 pm – Nature Merit Badge

Come to Westmoreland to finish up requirements for Nature Merit Badge. Our merit badge councilor will be working on requirements 1-3, 4b, and 4c. Please bring all evidence of completing three other sections of requirement 4 to complete the badge. Please bring a bagged lunch.
