High School Scientific Research

About Our Program:

Westmoreland Sanctuary mentors high school Science Research students every year. Students gain an understanding and appreciation for the natural world and learn techniques for monitoring and protecting the environment. Our Natural Resources and Wildlife Management plan designates 6 conservation islands — habitats of special interest on which we focus our habitat restoration efforts. Acceptable Science Research projects will support our efforts within these conservation islands.

Past and Current Projects:

  • Rusty Crayfish
  • Native Turtles
  • Aquatic Macroinvertebrates
  • Native & Invasive Birds
