Ann Paul

Ann was a member of the Westmoreland Sanctuary Board of Directors 2001-2015 and is passionate about “all things outdoors.” During her tenure, she served as Chair of the Nominating Committee for four years and President of the Board for two years. In addition to her strong commitment to environmental and conservation issues, she has a strong background in fiduciary management. Ann spent 15 years at J.P. Morgan Chase in their private wealth management and estate trust division. There she worked with clients who maintained assets of more than $50 million. Ann is currently a Bedford Wetlands Control Commissioner and an active member of the Bedford Garden Club. She is also a native to Westchester and lives in Bedford Hills, New York.

A graduate of Unity College in Maine, one of the leading environmental colleges in the country, Steve joined the Westmoreland family as a Junior Naturalist in 1990. He quickly rose through the ranks to Naturalist, Head Naturalist, Resident Director, and now Director of Conservation & Wildlife Management and General Manager. A former member of the Mount Kisco Tree Preservation Board and a current member of the Board of Directors of the Bedford Audubon Society, Steve uses his 30+ years of experience to help the community. Steve regularly offers environmental consultations to homeowners who want to attract birds, butterflies, and other wildlife to their property.

Alex Mintz

Alexander (Alex) Mintz joins us from the Rockland Conservation Corps, AmeriCorps Program in Rockland County, NY. This program focused on conservation & service to the community and supported local environmental organizations such as the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, MEVO Fresh Roots Farm & the DEC’s Shoreline Stabilization project in Piermont, NY. He also worked as an intern at Rockland Green, Rockland Counties Solid Waste Management Authority. Mr. Mintz has a dual BA in Communication and Anthropology from the State University of New York Oswego in Oswego, NY.

Joshua K. Cohen

Environmental Educator

Joshua  joins us from the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) in Aspen Colorado where he taught environmental field and naturalist programs for all ages. The program locations were based in Aspen, Snowmass, and the Maroon Bells in the White River National Forest. Programs included leading snowshoe, and ski tours, as well as ‘Bird of Prey’ programs. 

 

During this period Joshua was promoted to a ‘Mentor Naturalist’ position. The position had responsibilities for training naturalists, handling program scheduling, and general administration. Prior to ACES, he taught fishing, backpacking, and canoe safety at the YMCA in Lake George. A native of Westchester, Joshua grew up in Scarsdale and went to the University of Vermont where he received a BS in Environmental Studies. He is certified by the American Red Cross in first aid, CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator) and is certified by the NAI (National Association for Interpretive Guides) as an Interpretive Guide.

Members of Westmoreland Sanctuary’s Board of Directors are stewards of Westmoreland’s mission. Service on the Board is 100% voluntary and Board members receive no financial compensation. They meet multiple times a year in support of Westmoreland’s mission.
